The planting

My husband and I bought our plants for the garden this morning.  We came home with tomatoes, green peppers, Jalapeno and Serrano peppers, lemon cucumbers, yellow and green squash, bush beans and pole beans, romaine lettuce, cilantro, marjoram and tarragon.  Our son planted all of these in the designated areas.

Now they all have that wilted, shocked this is not my dirt look but I know from previous experience that this will end soon.  They will discover that they love the wonderful soil we've prepared for them and they will thrive.

Now the fun begins.  Growing and maintaining a garden is a lot of work and it's not cheap.  The payoff comes at harvest time.  It's so wonderful to go outdoors and pick a mess of beans for dinner or gather up a bowlful of tomatoes for summer's salads.  Here is how our garden looks today.
